RIP to the most generous and gracious crooner, the legend Tony Bennett.

My Pop was born in San Francisco and became a young Air Force military soldier. On leave, he attended a USO dance in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he noticed a beautiful young lady across the room. His favorite song “I Left my Heart in San Francisco” began to play, and when he finally mustered up the courage to approach the tall, beautiful Marie, the rest was history.

Growing up, I heard my Pop sing that song hundreds of times, and I thank Tony Bennett for inspiring the beginning of an incredible love story. Seventy five years later, I had the opportunity to work with Tony Bennett as he performed at The Statler Hotel for his second time in seventy years. It was sure a full circle moment for me. I guess you could say, because of Tony Bennett, I’m here to tell about the love story inspired by his song.
